In Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh, law enforcement has apprehended three individuals accused of disturbing public peace by spreading false rumors. This information was shared by an official on Wednesday.
The official revealed that on the night of July 28 and 29, two men, Zeeshan and Adil, used a microphone at the Sunhari Mosque in the Mohalla Mandi Chamaran area of Sardhana to falsely announce that 'thieves were coming.'
This misleading announcement caused panic in the neighborhood, prompting many residents to take to the streets armed with sticks, which led to a breakdown of law and order in the area.
Upon receiving the alert, the police team quickly arrived at the scene and managed to calm the crowd, restoring order. The official noted that a case has been registered at the Sardhana police station, resulting in the arrest of the three suspects. Authorities have stated that strict action will continue against anyone spreading such rumors.
